POWERFUL CONCRETE SET RETARDER AND PLASTICIZER

PRODUCT :

CEMWET—SRA, Super I is a polymer based organic admixture, suitable for low water - cement ratio, tem­perature and concrete where high retarding and plas-ticizing effects are essentially required. The product is a synthetically produced liquid water-reducing and set-retarding admixture for concrete. It is suitable for high range of it keeps concrete moist, accelerates rate of hardening after setting and does not entrain air, as such the strength of the concrete is not reduced, on the contrary, it increases final strength and saves 10 - 12% cement.

STANDARDS:

Complies with I.S. 9103-1979 and ASTM C 494-81, Type D.

ADVANTAGES:

• Retardation at low dosage without loss in strength.
• Provides a controlled rate of setting for hot con­creting and eoncrete can be placed reliably at high temperatures without loss of slump.
• Suitable for low water - cement ratio and high cement content mixes.
• Eliminates cold joints between successive pours and extends placing time.
• Workability of the mix is improved and controls slump loss that enables quicker placing and easier compaction.
• The jacking rate in slip-form work is considerably improved.
• Water reduction is possible upto 10—17% as sucb higher strengths could be achieved, Also ultimate strength in increased.
• Chloride     free   and    therefore does not attack reinforcement.
• Improves surface finish.
• Reduces shrinkage and creep.

DOSAGE & INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE :

The optimum dosage should be determined by site trials with the particular mix, because the dosage rate depends on the quality of cement, type of aggregates, water - cement ratio, temperature and the extent of retardation required. As a guide, rate of addition of CEMWET SRA Super I is generally in the range of 25 to 50 gms per bag of cement of 50Kg. (0.05 to 0.1% by wt. of cement). Over dosage, either accidental or deli­berate does not cause any adverse effect, except that setting time of concrete gets extended without loss of strength at 28 days; the strength on the contrary is increased.

CEMWET-SRA, Super I is a non-toxic, non-IIamable and does not cause dermatitis; ingestion should, how­ever, be avoided.

Results of setting time determined by Proctor Penit-rometer (IS; 8142-76) on mortar from the concrete containing- CEMWET-SRA, Super I and the refe­rence concrete are as under:
