POLYCOAT - SRP

SINGLE COMPONENT WATER - PROOFING AND ANTI-CORROSION COATING SYSTEM

PRODUCT :

It is a high polymer modified cementitious composite coating system, forming impermeable membrane having high tensile strength, increased bond strength and improved properties of cement mortar. The product is suitable for use in new as well as renovation work for surfacing, protection, waterproofing, repairing.

ADVANTAGES :

• Single Component System, provides tough, hard wearing surface with waterproofing.
• One Coat application (200-300 microns) sufficient for most applications. However, for safty two coats are recommended. It can be applied in uniform thickness to horizontal and vertical surfaces.
• Resistant to most dilute acids, alkalies, salts, oxidising agents, mineral oils, moisture and fungus growth.
• Developes excellent bonds and adheres to most substrates e.g. concrete, masonary, metal, wood, plastics etc.
• Produces tough, flexible film which is extremely impermeable, thereby minimising diffusion of oxygen, water and salts. Also it prevents peeling and bubling.
• Withstands temperatures from - 20°C to 80°C The coefficient of thermal expansion is equal to that of concrete.
• Fast drying - surface dry in 2-3 hours depending on applied thickness and substrate- Possible to apply in wet season, and on wet surfaces.
• Resistant to sunlight. White colour coating would tend to yellow slightly but without any damage to it's properties.
• No primer is required if instructions on surface preparation are followed strictly.
• It is highly durable to continuous wetting condition. Safe for potable water tanks (first fill should be discarded) as it Is non-toxic.

APPLICATION AREAS :

Any substrates where problem of corrosion and water proofing occurs. For roofs, terraces, basement, kitchen, walls, bathroom, warehouse, hospitals, instruments & computer room, food and chemical processing plants, breweries, sewage/ effulent tanks, cooling towers, ships, drilling rigs, off-shore structures, land based stee! structures of all types, swimming pool, potable water tanks, parking garages, industrial floors, Reservoirs, Canals, Dams, Water towers, Tunnels, Sewers, Biogas plant, etc.

SURFACE PREPARATION

Surface preparation is absolutely critical for proper adhesion of POLYCOAT-SRP. Surfaces should be free from rust, dust, grease, oil and loose particles. All standing water or free water should be removed. The surface before application should be damp or wet. The most effective surface preparation namely sand blasting following by a water wash will give the most effective and long lasting performance on steel structures. The next best is using stiff wire brush or coarse emery cloth. The sub-base concrete should be reasonably smooth. All depressions should be filled and levelled using POLYCOAT-SRP fitters as given below. Other substrates to be prepared as instructed above. Severely rusted area should be treated with a rust converter.

POLYCOAT- SRP FILLERS :

Cement = 1 part by weight or 1 kg.
Fine Silica sand = 1.55 part by weight or 1.5 kg.
POLYCOAT-SRP = 0.5 part by weight or 0.5 kg.

APPLICATION METHOD :

Mix POLYCOAT-SRP 50 kg. with 100 kg. cement. The cement should be added to POLYCOAT-SRP and the mixture is stirred thoroughly until no air bubbles remain in the mix. Any lump of cement is found that should be removed. Apply single coat by brush on the prepared surface. Film thickness will be 200-300 microns by brush application. The second coat should be applied once the first coat is surface dry (in 4.5 hours). Spray application is also recommended if proper equipment is available.

PRECAUTION :

Store in cool dry place. Close lid firmly after use, DURING APPLICATION IN ENCLOSED SPACES ALLOW GOOD CIRCULATION OF AIR. Water can be used for cleaning brush and other tools immediately after use.

For safety prepare small batches. If evaporation occurs, do not add water for achieving the consistency, but add POLYCOAT-SRP. Paint like consistency should be enough.
